An AMF (Automatic Main Failure) panel is a critical component of electrical power distribution systems, designed to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the event of a main power failure. These panels are commonly used in settings where continuous power is essential, such as hospitals, data centers, industrial facilities, and commercial buildings.
The primary function of an AMF panel is to automatically detect a loss of main power supply and seamlessly transfer the electrical load to an alternative power source, such as a backup generator or an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). This process, known as automatic mains failure (AMF) or automatic transfer switching (ATS), occurs within milliseconds of detecting a power outage, minimizing downtime and preventing disruption to critical operations.
AMF panels are equipped with sophisticated control systems, sensors, and relays that monitor the status of the main power supply and the backup power source. When a loss of main power is detected, the control system triggers the transfer switch to disconnect from the main power supply and connect to the backup power source automatically. Once the main power supply is restored, the transfer switch reverts to its original position, and the load is transferred back to the main supply seamlessly.
